Are there any FREE dance classes or dance groups I can attend in San Francisco? Hi. I live in San Francisco and I have been searching all over for some dance groups that meet and teach common dances such as ballroom, salsa, tango, etc. I am particularily interested in Country Line Dancing. Most of the places I have checked out charge a fee or require membership. I was wondering if there are any dance groups that meet for free or if there are any dance classes that are offered at no charge within the city. If so, when and where do they meet and could I have the contact information? Would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Anyone knows where I can taking clogging dance classes? I like to do clogging, which is a dance. I, also, like to line dance. Are there any places teaching clogging? I have been look all over the place for one and no one teaches it anymore. It would be nice if they taught it in the community centers, too. I went to the Epic Conference in Pigeon Forge and it was very awesome. I danced in that one taking workshops for both days, Friday & Saturday. I just would like to hopefully continue and take more clogging classes. I am looking for the classes in Knoxville. Would anyone know who or where to take them? I am taking line dance class at the present time, but would like to do some clogging. Thanks.
Does anyone know the Israeli line dance to the song Jessica by Ethnix? I took an Israeli dancing class about a year ago and Jessica was my favorite dance. I have a recording of the song at home, but I just cannot seem to remember all the steps to the dance. I would love it if someone could either write out the steps or post a video of the dance. It probably won't take much for me to remember the steps. I remember it had a lot of jumping. Thanks!

Joining the dance line team? ? (The high school I'm goingto calls it Dance Line, but I believe it's the same as pom-pom) I will be a freshman in high school this coming august and am very interested in joining the dane line team. However, I noticed that there is only a varsity team. I have a little experience in dancing but I'm not very flexible. However, I was thinking about taking dance classes or going to a camp over the summer. Is it posible to get into varsity as a freshman? I've heard that cheerleading offers a clinic before their tryouts. Does the same go for dance line teams? What does it take to be in the dance line team? What is reccommended/what other advice do you have to help prepare me in trying out?
A Chorus Line dance style? I saw A Chorus Line a couple nights ago and I'm writing a paper for dance class at school but I am having trouble describing the show's dance style. I know that there is a lot of ballet, jazz, and tap but I really need some help describing it. Thank you!

Line Dancing? Does anyone know of any line dancing classes in the Basingstoke area? and how much per session is?
How to get rid of stage fright when dancing? Hello, everyone! I love to dance but I'm always so shy when it comes to performing in front of other people. I always hide in the back line during dance classes but my teacher says I'm good and always tries to pushes me in the front line. That's where I start forgetting the choreography and feel as if everyone's eyes are staring at me. Oh, and I take hip hop classes. Thank you very much!
Contemporary line dance? Hey, does anyone know what contemporary line dance is? There's a class for it and it says it's a high energy, fast and funky. Also, country music has nothing to do with this style of line dance. Does anybody know what exactly it is?
Where can I take a hip hop dance class in Philadelphia? I live on the Main Line (Montgomery/Delaware county) and also work in Center City Philadelphia. I currently take classes at Koresh Dance Center on 20th and Chestnut but would like to know of any dance schools that offer this style class in the suburbs.
Is it too late to begin taking formal dance classes (ballet, modern, hip-hop, etc.)? I've never danced in my life, not a bit. However, I've started taking ballet classes at the Broadway Dance Center as a part of their Absolute Beginners Workshop. People say that it is great that I've started, that I'm male, tall (6'4"), and ready to learn. The thing I'm wondering is: if I start and continue studying dance, how good could I possibly get? Is it too late for me to be as fluent a dancer as those guys that started dancing from 10-15 years old? I have friends and I went to school with dancers as well... people that started around those ages. They're very flexible, graceful, and fluid. Splits, turns and balance are no where near an issue. I'd love to get to that point some time in the future, but is it still physically possible at this age? (***One thing I wish I could do is balance myself on one foot and point my other foot straight up in the air... making a really nice vertical line with both legs from floor to ceiling -- that's sooo cool!) What do I need to do to prepare for Dance Team Tryouts? My school is having it's first year with a real dance line along with having a dance team thats more hip-hop for during basketball season and I want to tryout. I have about a month to get ready and have been stretching and been working on my kicks but what all do I need to do to get ready for tryouts? As far as experience i took 1 year of dance and then 6 years of tumbling classes. What can I do to prepare for tryouts and what should I expect?
What type of dance class am I looking for? I am looking for a dance class that does 'music video' dance. Along the lines of pussy cat dolls etc, However I was not quite sure what class this would be, I think my friend used to do something similar - and it was a jazz class, but was not really what many people would consider 'jazz'. What sort of class should I look for? Thanks

non-country line dance? In school we're doing line dances and my partner and I have to learn a dance and present it to the class. Does anyone know any good non-country (sorry country fans) line dances? I'd really appreciate it if you could also include music that would work well with the song. Thank you so much, you're life savers.
Before deporting illegals, shouldnt we treat them to dance classes, bingo, continental breakfasts, etc? Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are preparing to roll out a series of changes at several privately owned immigration detention centers, including relaxing some security measures for low-risk detainees and offering art classes, bingo and continental breakfast on the weekends. The changes, detailed in an internal ICE e-mail obtained by the Houston Chronicle, were welcomed by immigrant advocates who have been waiting for the Obama administration to deliver on a promise made in August to overhaul the nation's immigration detention system. The 28 changes identified in the e-mail range from the superficial to the substantive. In addition to “softening the look of the facility” with hanging plants and offering fresh carrot sticks, ICE will allow for the “free movement” of low-risk detainees, expand visiting hours and provide unmonitored phone lines. ICE officials said the changes are part of broader efforts to make the immigration detention system less penal and more humane. But the plans are prompting protests by ICE's union leaders, who say they will jeopardize the safety of agents, guards and detainees and increase the bottom line for taxpayers. Tre Rebstock, president for Local 3332, the ICE union in Houston, likened the changes to creating “an all-inclusive resort” for immigration detainees. “Our biggest concern is that someone is going to get hurt,” he said, taking particular issue with plans to relax restrictions on the movement of low-risk detainees and efforts to reduce and eliminate pat-down searches. The changes outlined in the ICE e-mail are planned for nine detention centers owned and operated by Corrections Corporation of America, including the 900-bed Houston Contract Detention Facility on the city's north side. Some of the changes will be implemented within 30 days; others may take up to six months, said Beth Gibson, ICE's senior counselor to Assistant Secretary John Morton and a leader of the detention reform effort. Other major changes include: • Eliminating lockdowns and lights-out for low-risk detainees. • Allowing visitors to stay as long as they like in a 12-hour period. • Providing a unit manger so detainees have someone to report problems to other than the guard. • Allowing low-risk detainees to wear their own clothing or other non-penal attire. • Providing e-mail access and Internet-based free phone service. Not about punishment Gibson said the improvements are part of ICE's efforts to detain immigrants in the least restrictive manner possible while ensuring they leave the country if ordered to do so. “When people come to our custody, we're detaining them to effect their removal,” Gibson said. “It's about deportation. It's not about punishing people for a crime they committed.” ICE officials have faced pressure from immigrant advocates and some members of Congress to improve the detention conditions for the roughly 400,000 immigrants it houses annually. The agency has relied on a hodgepodge of more than 250 government-run detention centers, private prisons and local jails to accommodate its growing population — with roughly one in four detainees held in Texas. At the CCA facilities that have agreed to ICE's changes, detainees will see more variety in their dining hall menus and have self-serve beverage and fresh vegetable bars. CCA also plans to offer movie nights, bingo, arts and crafts, dance and cooking classes, tutoring and computer training, the e-mail states. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7043040.html I see no mention of soft serve ice cream machines. I mean, that exclusion is just barbaric
Cant remember title of this film. Same kind of story line as Dirty Dancing and Shall we dance? Its a story about a woman probably in her 30's, whose already kind of in a relationship but starts going to a Latino dance class and falls for her dance teacher. This is about a slightly older woman. She starts latin dancing I believe and falls for the instructor. Theres conflict with the relationship from both sides. On the instructor's side, his family doesnt like someone outside of their community/lifestyle, not sure of her dancing. She is maybe seeing someone else. But at the end they manage to overcome this and she ends up starring in some concert as his partner.

Line Dancing in Spain? I am looking for Line Dancing club/classes in Malaga or the area East of Malaga. Does anyone know?? Carole O
I need to learn to dance, but not anything that would be taught in a dancing school or anything like that.? So, I've never danced in my life. Ever. My girlfriend and I are at a bar where there is dancing. Of course she wants to dance. I tell her that I can't dance. Don't know how. But she assures me that I'll do all right. So we go out for one song. She couldn't believe how bad I was, despite my assurances that I would be. She likes to dance, and wants to go occasionally. She isn't pressuring me to learn, in fact she never mentions it. I would still like to learn, so that she can have a chance to go. So what's the best way to learn? Anywhere there are dancing classes, all I can find are specialty classes. How can I learn to just regular dance? Not line dancing or anything, but it'd be kind of western dancing, nothing to hip-hop. I can't just go out and ask people to dance because a:I don't know how to dance, and b:she would probably get mad if she found out. Thanks for the help.

dance shoes? If I want to buy just one pair of dance shoes for all my dance classes (ballroom, line, latin). What should I get?
How do I get my back to be flexible for dance? My back is not flexible at all. Standing in a normal position, my back arches in from my butt... a lot. When I try to curve my back forward, the most I can go is when my back is a perfectly straight line. (I hope you can visualize this!) What are some stretches that will get my back more flexible for my dance class? Thank you!
