Line Dance Steps

I want to start dance classes, but I'm scared of what people will think.?

I am a male, who is 15. I'm worried about the criticism that I will get from other people if I start doing it. I want to be a Dancer for Carnival Cruise Lines when I get out of high-school.

  1. just think of ppl like Patrick Swayze, great dancer and proberbly had the fun made out of him
  2. I've been dancing all of my life. When new people start it makes it fun. Just give it a try, it's really fun :)
  3. Seriously? Cool! Look, don't let what people may, or may not, think about you following your dreams affect your decision. If you want to do something in life, go for it. If you're really afraid, don't tell anyone. People today can be so homophobic, it's astounding. I say go for it.
  4. Why would you give a damn about that people will think? You gotta live your life and do whatever makes YOU happy.
  5. There's nothing to be ashamed of! If dancing is something you're passionate about then go for it. Don't worry about what other people think; we'll see who's laughing when they're fat and out of shape and you're toned and muscular from dancing. ;-)
  6. Whatever your choice, the criticism always fall on you. Develop personality and make all your dreams come true. You do not want to be a person who only says "if I ...". You do? Do not worry about what others say or will say about you, many of them envy, many of them cheat.
  7. Do what you think is cool It may be fun it may be board do whatever you what to do. Let your heart out and dance like a fool so do it is fun to me..............LOL have fun
  8. Are you Serious? Anyone who criticizes you is a absolute idiot. Just think 'I don't care cause am doing what I love and if people are gonna hate on me for that, so be it.' they don't have to live with it. just do it, I don't care if you dance, I don't care if you have 8 eyes and 20 noses. and neither does anyone else. Have fun do what you love, don't let people stand in your way cause I'll tell you something you'll get more lectures from people telling you to 'do what your heart wants' then you will critisism from idiots who have no life.
  9. Go to www.TalentFactoryRI.com and go to the Company page a look at the pictures of the little twin boys, Travis and Tyler. They do ballet and they are never made fun of. In fact, I am jealous of them for being so good and I am honored I get to dance with them. Don't be scared. One day people will understand that dancing isn't just for girls.
  10. Criticism? CRITICISM? With the popularity of shows like So you think you can dance and Dancing with the Stars? Oh please. The ability to dance is a sure fire way to get girls - leaders are at a premium in the social dance world. *wry smile* Now for the important thing - what dances do you plan to have? I would recommend jazz, tap and hip-hop. It will make you more marketable once you get off the boat. Last thing - a dancer's career is short so while in high school I would focus on things that you will be able to pick up once the dancing ends, like arts management. Get involved in you school play BEHIND the scenes and learn things like lighting, or promotions, or set design. Read up on grant writing. Trust me on this.
  11. if you wanna be a dancer when you get out of high school, the only thing you can do is just dance! if they criticize you, who cares!! at my dance studio, we are doing the nutcracker ballet, and we have a guy dancer for the nutcracker part. he is a really awesome dancer, and no one criticizes him, so... just dance!
  12. Just do it if you want I guess... and also carnival cruise rocks :) and no offense but the dancers on it in my opinion are pretty bad, as in we're much more advanced then they are ( we as in me and my younger sister).
  13. Think of it this way. Football players, hockey players, and basketball players get sweaty and have to tackle other sweaty guys. Not to mention shower with them. Male dancers get to look at hot girls in spandex all day. :) Don't worry about what the other guys think, many girls find that attractive. Bottom line, do what you love.
  14. Oh hell, not only do I not worry about what people think about me dancing, I BRAG about it. I just say that I've got a room full of hot women who want to dance with me and leave it at that. And I just show them a picture of me and my Salsa teacher dancing and they are suitable impressed. I say go for it. Enjoy dancing. And I agree with the previous poster, a woman really likes a guy who can lead well.
  15. Don't be scared. Be proud. At 15 you have a good focus. Try looking at it this way: you're Passport will be stamped with every country on the globe. You'll get to travel around the world-free. They won't. They won't pay for your training; therefore they don't count. What does, is your pursuit of your passion. If it's your family who's against your career, even if you have to grab a part-time job to pay for dance lessons, do it. I'm an adult who loves figure skating. Years ago I wanted to go skating, but my boyfriend said: "Figure skating's for kids!" That was his opinion, not mine. Back then, adult skaters were looked upon sarcastically as "trying to go for the Olympics" or "Why are YOU skating?" 30 years later, with countless tests, local competitions, medals, 2 trophies (not to brag) and adult skaters finally recognized by United States Figure Skating (the governing body of figure skating in the U.S. for Olympic as well as Recreational skaters) I wish I could dangle one medal in front of those idiotic commentors, and say: "Now, what was that about skating being for kids...?" Over the years I've meet many wonderful skaters and dancers of all ages and backgrounds, and we' ve helped each other if a particular element's giving us trouble, or just by being supportive and encouraging. Now I teach figure skating and still skate for myself. I say that to say: let no one deter you from your passion. It'll expand your world, you'll meet people with like interests, and you won't regret it. I know I don't. All the best to you in your endeavors.
