What is the cultural signicance of line dancing?

OR the role of the dance with its culture??? i cant find anything on the net...HELP???

1. Line dancing evolved in the american midwest mainly because the cowboys had such bad body odor the lady's in waiting would only agree to dance with them in the fashion now referred to today as line dancing.
