Line Dance Steps

Soca dance steps on-line?

I would like to teach my class of children some soca dance - anyone know of any good web-sites that show some basic steps?

  1. I like your Idea. I wish you understood the energy, feelings & movement envoled in Soca. This is because learning steps can be taught from something as simple as a book. The other aspects can only be taught through a teacher. Since you don't possess these neither will your students. These elements are very important to every style of dance. I remember a sceen in the movie "Beetle Juice" where the party the guests were possessed and danced Soca (to Harry Belafonte's Day-O then later to Jump In Line). Because the director had no idea what Soca was this is how bad your students will look without understaning it. Soca is a style of Caribbean dance music derived from calypso and American soul music and having a pounding beat. I sugest you start with something simple like Calypso Merengue. It is almost the same just simpler. Do you know what Merengue is? Now that you have a starting place... Then maybe you will be ready for this http://www.luckyline.se/dansarkiv/caribbean.htm If you have any more questions just write me pasodoblemaster@yahoo.com Good luck and never stop studying; P.D.M.
  2. i don't have any idea about a web-site but i know from experience that u should just feel the music and move your waist to the beat of the music....
